It's the time of year again when you might find yourself
having to buy a gift for a gamer and you have no idea what to get them. From
adult gamers to kids, we all seem to love to play video games. I'm here (with
the help of Ubisoft) to make it a lot simpler for you! Two great games to add
to your holiday gift list, for adults and kids! We recently had to privilege to
play two of their newest games Ubisoft
Assassin's Creed Origins and Just
Dance 2018.
I live in a house where I have one who has been playing
Assassin's Creed for years and one who has been playing Just Dance from the
time she was old enough to hold a controller! My husband spent this past
weekend playing Assassin's Creed, he came up from our basement and I asked him
if he had beaten the game "not even close" was his response. The game
is like an onion, with many layers that need to get peeled back to truly reveal
the end product. In Origin's you take the role of Bayek and his wife Aya who
are Medjay (think elite police back in Ancient Egypt.)
The game is set in 49BCE and modern day. Abstergo who built the Animus which allows employees to live the memories of past people, Layla the Abstergo employee discovered Bayek and Aya while looking for an ancient Egyptian artifact, she decided to live their memories to see why they were in the tombs, and that's where the fun begins.

Assassin's
Creed Origins is like the past versions of this game, once you've played
one, you'll be able to play them all. The controls are easy and familiar and
even if you're new to the franchise they're quite easy to handle. Set in
ancient Egypt, you'll encounter Cleopatra, Ptomely XIII, Julius Caesar and I'm
not going to reveal anyone else.... What my husband loves about this franchise
is that it blends fiction and non-fiction in such a way that it is believable.
The storytelling is so deep and well written that you get lost in the game and
you keep pushing forward to see what happens next.
As Bayek, you have all the tricks of the trade that you've become used to as an assassin, from smoke bombs to poison darts, to hidden blades and for the first time in a few releases no guns! Also a first for this franchise is that you can now train animals to help you! You can unlock the animal taming skill on the skill tree, it takes several steps to get it but my husband was determined to have a lion and hippo aid him in battle! Nothing like seeing a hippo literally charge into battle. A lot of familiar things and a lot of new things help make this entry into the Assassin's Creed franchise a breath of fresh air.

This game is the first Assassin's Creed released in over 2 years. The layoff shows in the quality of this game. The story, the gameplay, the graphics, the actual physics of the game are all stellar. Like I said before my husband is a fan of the franchise and has been since launch. He's talked about how he could see a yearly release of another installment was taking its toll on the developers. He hated having to wait but the wait was worth it! If you were a fan in the past and grew tired of the franchise, or if you're new to the franchise, this is a great jumping on point game. This game is aimed towards the adult gamer in your family.
Just Dance 2018 is the polar opposite. You go from one game that's about stealth and quiet, to a game that makes my daughter's bedroom floor shake! If you're not familiar with the Just Dance franchise....where have you been living?! A motion controlled game that has a wide variety of music genre's to choose from you dance and try to score as high as possible. With 40 tracks available at launch and 300 more to choose from via Just Dance Unlimited (extra fees apply) you're bound to find countless songs you love and will have a blast trying to dance to them.
This year Just Dance features a kids mode to make it easier for little ones (and my husband) to play as well. It's more of a rhythm and timing game and my husband just always seems to be a step behind..... My daughter who has been playing this franchise for a long time has that rhythm and timing pattern down. I'm ok, better than my husband, but so are the dolls that reside in our daughter's room.

Some of the songs on the regular mode include: 24K Magic by Bruno Mars; Footloose made famous by Kenny Loggins; John Wayne by Lady Gaga; Automaton by Jamiroquai; and a personal favorite of my daughter Love Ward by Hatsune Miku. The kids version has some awesome songs as well like: Ghostbusters by Ray Parker, Jr.; Price Ali from Aladdin; This is Halloween by Danny Elfman; Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go by Wham; and what's a party without Y.M.C.A. by the Village People! A lot of awesome music and that's not even the tip of the iceberg!
What we love about this game is that we can all play together and just laugh and have a good time, it's not about who is better than who, it's just a fun time to be together and just letting loose...and laughing at my husband! If you're looking for a great game that everyone can enjoy and play this is the game for you. I don't know how many parties we've had where Just Dance wasn't a part of it at some point, it helps to make good times better. Also, it's a wonderful way to get a workout in. You don't come away from this dry, you will sweat and you will sweat a lot! It's a dual purpose game! Who doesn't like burning calories while playing a video game?? This is a family friendly game, that is great for kids and adults.

I think my hubby would Assassin's Creed Origins. He really enjoys gaming after work. He helps him destress.
We all love the Just Dance game series. It's been fun to convince Grandparents to give it a try when they visit.
We have one of the original just dance games, we need to update!!
One of the older Just Dance versions (Kids) is something my youngest still enjoys. Sometimes he just listens to the music, it's great.
My family loves the Just Dance games. Time for a new one!
My girls got to try out the new Just Dance at Nintendo headquarters a couple weeks ago. It instantly went onto their wish list!
