The classic Disney film Bambi is 75th anniversary is this year, and is celebrating with the release of the highly anticipated Walt Disney Signature collection Bambi! This will be available Digital HD May 23rd and Blu-ray June 6th! Bambi, one of Walt Disney’s most beloved classics, to me is one of his best films. This coming-of-age story has delighted audiences for 75 years.
I have seen photos of artists studying and practicing their drawings on actual deer that were brought into the office, to be sure that the motions and actions of the deer on the screen look as authentic as they possible could. The film took over five years to make due to its exquisite hand-drawn artwork and attention to detail. The breathtaking landscape and drawings, and lovable characters makes this movie stand out from all others. The movies love spans generations, from my grandmother growing up with the movie, to my daughter growing up with the movie, it is a classic that is a part of movie history. My grandmother was 5 when she went to see the movie, and when she
heard that I was going to be able to cover the newest release she was excited
and told me that Bambi is one of the first movies she ever saw, and that she
still loves it.

The Bambi Effect, “Bambi” was full of innovations for its time. With this extra
we get a chance to take a look at how those past innovations affected future Disney animated titles all the way up to today. How did Bambi change the animated cartoons we watch today?
Studio Stories: “Bambi”
Recordings of Walt Disney. Listen in on intimate moments where he discusses
the challenges, pitfalls and triumphs during the production of “Bambi.”
As you would expect from a Disney release there are some
great Deleted Scenes, including Bambi’s
Ice and Snow, in this scene Bambi coaxes Thumper and his brothers and sisters
to come play on the ice during the first snow, and The Grasshopper with this
scene you see a grasshopper confronts Bambi and Thumper and finds himself in
quite a predicament. I love when there are deleted scenes added to a release,
it is a great way to see how a movie could have taken another route, or how a character
can change, or you can just see a sure little scene that you have never seen
before.

Oswald the Lucky
Rabbit: “Africa Before Dark” This Oswald Short, is cute and starts the zany
Oswald. Walt Disney’s original character. I am so glad that the Disney
corporation got the rights back for this character, Walt would be proud to see
his creation still out there making shorts under his company again.
There is even a special digital exclusive short called, Celebrating Tyrus Wong, this is a
heartfelt look at the man who played a key role in the success of “Bambi.” Much
like Mary Blair and Eyvind Earle, Tyrus Wong had a unique signature style all
to his own. The soft water-colored backgrounds and beautiful palettes in
“Bambi” were inspired by Tyrus’ concept art paintings.
Before receiving this Blu-Ray, we had an older vhs clam shell copy of the film that we have watched again and again. Bambi is a movie that I watched as a young girl, and that my daughter grew up watching. The old vhs was grainy and jumped a bit, but we always watched and enjoyed it. I am so glad that this is now out on Blu-ray the quality is amazing and so much better than what I had in the past, you cannot even compare it!

I love this! Bambi is one of my favorite Disney films. It's easily in the top 5. I must have this.

I love the movie Bambi. I am anxiously awaiting my pre-ordered copy, because none of the stores in my area ever keep the Signature Collection combo packs in stock for very long. Bambi is one of the all time greats. That tank top is to die for!

One of the first movies I saw was Bambi and it still is a great feature film for kids and adults. Who could have imagined the empire Disney was creating.
This was one of my favorite childhood movies, I can't wait to share the Anniversary Edition with my nieces and nephews!
