A #Recipe for Sweet Wonderful Halos mandarin orange cookies & your chance to win a Spring Halos #giveaway box!

With all of the cold weather we have been having here in the northeast, it is having me yearn for the warmer nicer days of spring. Those days are coming, and hopefully I will start to see the change of seasons soon. With the change of seasons comes Easter, one of my favorite holidays, it is a great time to get together with my family and have some quality family time together. Are you ready for Easter? Well to get you ready I have a yummy recipe to share with you all, a sweet and delicious recipe that uses fresh Sweet Wonderful Halos Mandarin Orange Cookies. These refreshing cookies really put me in a spring frame of mind, and I am sure your family will love them too.

Sweet Wonderful Halos Mandarin Orange Cookies

Ingredients:
1 1/2 sticks of butter, softened (best if left out to naturally soften)
1 1/2 cups white sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon almond extract
The juice of 2 Wonderful Halos Mandarin Oranges
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder

Icing:
1/2 cup confectionery sugar
1 tablespoon of milk
The zest of 2 Wonderful Halos Mandarin Oranges

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix dry ingredients, then add wet and incorporate well. Roll into quarter sized balls and pace 2 inches apart on cookies sheet. The dough will be sticky, you can scoop the balls out by a spoon, for flour your hands to help with the stickiness. Bake for 10 minutes until lightly browned. When cookies are cooling on wire rack, prepare the icing, after this icing is mixed will use a spoon to drizzle over completely cooled cookies, then enjoy!

With spring and sunnier days just around the corner, Wonderful Halos mandarins are the perfect snack to help get you in the mood.  As you may know, Halos are in season November through May. Sweet, seedless and easy to peel Halos are easy to pack in lunches, great to share at kid’s activities and sporting events, and make a healthy snack choice any time of the day.

I love Halo's in my oats, my grandchildren eat them alone and I'm always running out because of them. :)
