Part of the fun of Christmas is getting to watch all the classic Christmas shows, and baking holiday goodies with the family. Getting to share the shows and the love of baking with our daughter is something we love to do. These shows like Rudolph, Frosty, Frosty Returns and Santa Claus is Comin’ to Town are timeless and instantly bring me back to my childhood. I wanted to share a great recipe for yummy Christmas cookies. This is a recipe we love to make because it is easy, sweet and delicious! Our Sparkling Holiday Cookies!

Sparkling Holiday Cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup sugar
1 egg
2 sticks of Butter
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon almond
extract
2 1/3 cups flour
1/2 teaspoon baking
soda
Colored sugar
Your favorite mix
ins
Directions:
Preheat oven to
375°F. Cream together butter and sugar and egg until well mixed, stir in almond
extract, vanilla, flour, baking soda and your favorite mix ins (these can be
nuts, chips, or nothing at all, it is up to you). After all is mixed well, take
dough and roll into small balls (about the size of a quarter). Pour colored
sugar in bowls. Take balls of dough and roll into sugar. Place sugared balls
into cookie sheet and press down on each of them with your palm. Make sure that
they are at least 2 inches apart from each other. Bake for 9-11 minutes, until
lightly browned. Transfer cookies to cookie rack to cool.
These easy to make
cookies are soft and delicious. These are great because, we use what we have
left over from baking other treats. If we have some chopped nuts we add those
in, if we have chips we add those too. We love to make these in all of the
holiday colors, it really makes them look festive!
What to do after
making these fun cookies? Well watch Christmas classic of course! Do you
remember when Santa asked Rudolph to guide his sleigh? When Frosty
magically came to life on Christmas Eve? When Kris Kringle became Santa
Claus? This year, three beloved holiday characters come to life
for the first time on Digital HD! And just in time for the holidays, these
stories and more are available on Blu-ray and DVD in a Bundle pack perfect
for creating new memories and holiday traditions! The Original Christmas
Classics Bundle is available on Digital HD, DVD and Blu-ray now.
I love Rudolph and the misfit toys but I’ve always had a
soft spot in my heart for Hermey the elf who wants to be a dentist. Things
haven’t changed when we watched Rudolph the other night and I first saw Hermey
I smiled just like I did when I was a little girl. Frosty the Snowman narrated
by Jimmy Durante is based off of the song and is my husband’s favorite mainly
because of Jimmy Durante. He loves his version of Frosty mainly because of the
“tumpitty-tump-tump” part of the song because Jimmy Durante isn’t exactly James
Earl Jones when it comes to narrating. Who hasn’t built a snowman and wished it
turned into Frosty?
With this great set we find out how Santa became Santa in Santa
Claus is Comin’ to Town. We owe the kids in Sombertown a debt of gratitude. Why
you might ask? Well if they had toys Kris Kringle wouldn’t have been put into
action to get the poor children toys and thus we would have no Santa. I don’t
know about you but I like Santa and I love to see what he leaves for me under
my tree! There are plenty of other classics in this set, plenty to get
you through all of your holiday baking (and eating)!
If you’re looking for shows that the whole family can watch
