A family tradition of ours is to make
the trek 90 miles up the PA Turnpike every Christmas season to enjoy
the festivities at HersheyPark Christmas Candylane . This is a tradition in our family
that dates back 20 years (as long as I've been with my husband), his
family would visit his sister (who lived in Hershey) and would go
over to Hershey Park to enjoy the park at a much less crowded and a
lot cooler time of year. I fell in love with it.
Less crowds means
getting on the rides faster and with the temperature being a lot
cooler than it is in the summer it means no sweating! Every year
since we started going things have progressively gotten better and
better.
The
Sweetest Place on Earth is truly
that. The fun begins in the park in the festive Christmas Candylane
where you can ride some awesome
rides like The Reese's Xtreme Cup Challenge, The Kissing Tower,
Scrambler, Ferris Wheel, sooperdooperLooper, Tea Cups, and much more.
The Laugh Track is Heresy's newest coaster, this indoor coaster sends
you flying spinning all while lights are flashing and you experiencing
fun house laughs!
Need
a break from the rides? My suggestion is to head over to the sweet
shops and pick up a holiday cupcake or fudge. Of course there is plenty
of chocolate and Hershey favorites to go around. Be sure to get a hot
chocolate, and make it a deluxe (this tops it with whip cream and more
chocolate chips..) It's easily the best hot
chocolate I've ever had.
Of course wherever Santa's reindeer are the man in red can not be far... Kids an also visit with Santa! Up next head over to Rudolph's Skating Pond, take in the Littlest
Tree this is a wonderful show full of a crazy cast of characters
singing a bunch of seasonal favorites.
Keep an eye out for your favorite Hershey characters these fun characters are decked in their holiday apparel and and cannot wait to take a picture with you! Kids and big kids like myself will have a bast interacting and taking pictures with your favorite candy characters.
If you'd like to hear a
story head over to Christmas Candyland Storytime where one of Santa's
elves will tell you a wonderful holiday story. When the sun starts to
set and night starts to set in every half hour you'll get to
experience Noel. Noel is a light show featuring 200,000 synchronized
lights dancing to music. It's a sight to behold.
Speaking of sights
to behold....When your day (or night) is over at Hershey Park you can
drive over to the Hershey Sweet Lights. What's that, you might ask?
It's 4 million lights that will amaze you and take your breath away.
I remember the first time we took our daughter she was 3 and she sat
in her car seat with her eye's wide open soaking up all the pretty
lights.
For this experience you can come as you are, warm and snuggly in your car as you slowly drive around drive
through two miles of wooded trails. Soaking in the beauty of the lights, from character lights to holiday scenes there is so much to look at an enjoy with Sweet Lights.
If you're looking for a great time, a
chance to spend a day (and night) in a really sweet place and if
you're in the vicinity of Hershey, you need to head over to
experience Christmas Candyland and Sweet Lights. I'm sure that you'll
start the same tradition we stated over two decades ago. I will have more Hershey fun to share with you all, from things to do to places to stay, be sure to stay tuned!

Ive never been to Hershey but have always wanted to go. Maybe next year when I head north to see the family!
We've always wanted to via Hershey, but would probably in the summer. If we travel during the winter, it'll be south, not east!
I love looking at Christmas lights. Hershey is wonderful on any day but I bet seeing the park all decorated is amazing!
Wow that's gorgeous. I would love to visit there some day!
These lights are the most amazing Christmas lights I've ever seen. I would love to see these one day in person. Thank you for sharing these amazing pictures.
Wow! I wish I could go to something like that for the holidays!
