Tis the season, for shopping decorating and baking! The stores will be filled with gift and great items for friends and family. With all of the splendor of the holidays, you have to take the time to take a step back and realize the season is a season of giving. It feels so much better to give than receive. When I had the opportunity to participate in  Zoës Kitchen holiday “selfless giving” campaign I jumped at the chance.

I love to spread the love whenever I can.  For those who many not be that familiar with this company , let me tell you a bit about Zoës Kitchen a great place to eat and to cater. Zoës Kitchen is a leading fast-casual restaurant concept serving a distinct menu of fresh, wholesome, Mediterranean dishes delivered with Southern hospitality. The company has more than 165 locations in 14 states and is on a mission to deliver goodness. 

My mission for Zoës Kitchen was to find three friends to surprise with a holiday gift bag that includes one $25 Zoës Kitchen gift card, a greeting card and Spice of Life bottle to three deserving people. Now it was my turn to give the gift of a delicious meal from Zoës Kitchen, but who would be the lucky recipients? I have so many deserving people around me, in my neighborhood and at my work place… After mulling over who I would give my three special holiday gift bags, to show the spirit of the holidays with selfless giving I came up with my recipients.

I surprised one of my neighbors with the first holiday bag. She has been down on her luck recently losing her job and with a newborn this is just a tough time for her. She is a proud single mom, who does not want pity and does not as for handouts or asking for help. Just because she may not ask for help, does not mean I cannot volunteer myself to help her and her little baby out a little bit by providing them this holiday bag filled with goodies to take a night off from cooking and enjoy a meal on Zoës Kitchen,  I also included a note volunteering to watch the baby if she ever needs any time to herself or if she needs time to go out and do things baby free. Mary (I won’t use her real name for privacy) was so very happy and surprised when I gifted her with these holiday goodies. She teared up a little, because of her happiness and excitement. I have to tell you, this was an amazing feeling I teared up too.

It is the little things right? After the first reaction to their holiday gift bag I could not wait to give the second holiday gift bag away. I decided on a co-worker of mine Joan (I won’t use her real name for privacy). This co-worker is in a bit of a tough situation, both of her parents are not doing well  and at times it seems like there is no one around to help them but herself. This puts a lot of strain on my co-worker, it is stressful to have a full time job, kids and now to have to worry about where your parents are going to live and who will take care of them?  

One thing I know about Joan is her love of cooking, it is a way she gets away from her daily stress, she loves to cook. I knew she would love the Zoës Kitchen gift card, and the spice of life, it would be a great addition to her cooking! I surprised Joan with this holiday goodie bag by leaving this on her desk chair with a note to enjoy the spices and treat the family to a meal from Zoës Kitchen. She was so very happy and just plain surprised. She could not thank me enough, and was excited to try out Zoës Kitchen for the first time.

The third holiday gift bag, well who would get that? After a while thinking, I came up with the person who would get this special holiday treat would be…. You! Someone you choose!
