****I was provided a
trip to experience the launch of the Windows 10 Devices, all opinions are 100%
my own ****
The worlds eyes were on NY
this past Tuesday for the launch of the new Windows 10 devices. With over 110 million devices around the world with
Windows 10, and 1.25 billion visits to the Microsoft Store…. you bet there were
a lot of fans tuned into the web broadcast of the Windows 10 launch. I was very
fortunate to attend this launch in person in Manhattan. Being a Microsoft fan
for years, I love my Lumia phone, Windows 10 and even my Microsoft Zune (yes I
still have my Zune, and it goes with me everywhere).
This event was a bit of a
nerd nirvana for me, to be able to see what is coming from Microsoft was
amazing. The launch was full of surprises
and some shocking announcements. The
event introduced new aspects to gaming, phones, tablets and even a new laptop.
Xbox fans, you will be happy to heat that with the upcoming Xbox One, you will be able to play your Xbox360 games on it. That is great news for gamers. My husband has hoped for this to happen for many years. We have a small home with both systems, and having the opportunity to get use out of all the Xbox games he has with one system would be great. Great holiday gifts of games like “Halo 5: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider,” “Forza Motorsport 6,” and “Gears of War: Ultimate Edition” will be on any gamers must have list.
Looking for a new way to
game? Check out the Microsoft HoloLens, a holographic computer! Think virtual reality
kicked up 10,000 notches. Being able to be in the game as you play it as never
before. A few lucky attendees got to try a hand at this game. It looked really
fun, and one day I would love to check it out myself.
If you are in the market for
a new tablet, why not look at the Microsoft Surface 4, a tablet that can replace your laptop. The revolutionary
Microsoft Surface is now thinner, faster and lighter! The Surface 4 is only 8.4 mm! That is super thin! This
features a 12.3-inch PixelSense Display
and 6th Generation Intel Core m, Core i5, and Core i7 processors, Starting at
$899 .
This handy device would be great for any professional who has
to bring their work with them. One of my favorite features is the up to nine
hours of battery life. Do you like to jot down notes the old fashioned way,
with a classic pen and paper? Well there is a new Surface Pen that has 1,024
levels of pressure sensitivity, with this you can draw and write with fluid
movement just like a real pen. And best of all the pen can attach to the
surface with a simple click, so no more lost pens! Surface Pro 4 is now available
for preorder and will be available in stores on Oct. 26, 2015.
Lumia 950 and Lumia 950 XL,
the first Windows 10 Lumia phones, a
phone that can act as a laptop (I think I see a pattern here). If you are a
busy person like me you try to get as much done while traveling, either on a plane
or train I have to capitalize on the time I have because I want to get the work
I have done in a timely fashion, and have the time I saved to spend with my
family. With the Lumia 950 you can use all that Windows 10 has available… On
your phone!
Now it was time for
the Lumia 950XL to take a shot…. When I saw the picture it was spectacular, you
could easily read each and every card he fanned, and he was in motion! Also the night pictures were unique, ever
taken a picture at night and used a flash and the flash brightened the subject
but darkened the background? Sure this happens to me all the time, then I have
to take the picture again without the flash…
But no longer with the Lumia 950
you can take a picture with or without the flash, then edit the picture later
to “manually” add or take away the flash, the camera knows what the picture
would look like in low or bright light, wow! This would be such a time saver,
and would make my pictures that more perfect. The Lumia 950 retails for $549
and 950 XL at $649. They will be available in stores in November.
I have started to eat healthier
and I am trying to get lead a more healthy life. Then the Microsoft Band 2 comes into my life, making the ease into a
healthier lifestyle easier. The Microsoft Band is a sleek easy to wear bracelet
that works with the app Windows Health and Cortania, to set wellness goals and
track your health. The Microsoft Band 2 is available for purchase on Oct. 30th
and retails for $249.00.
The biggest reveal and surprise
of the day was the announcement for the new Surface Book, a super thin laptop with a detachable screen. The Surface
Book has a 13.5-inch optically bonded PixelSense Display a 6th Generation Intel
Core i5 and Core i7 processors with up to 12 hours of battery life. The Sure
this looks like a sleek attractive laptop with wonderful specs…
But it is a has a twist.. the screen detaches! An actual real laptop that can become a tablet. When this was shown the cheers rang out through the room and even got a standing ovation, it was something to see. The Surface Book starts at $1,499.00.
With the holidays right around the corner (they will be here before you
know it…) Microsoft has gifts that the special folks of your holiday gift list
will love! Soon you will be able to purchase these great items online at the microsoftstore.com,
or in store at the Microsoft stores.
What were your favorite devices from the Windows
10 launch?

The Surface book looks like the 2in1 is finally here. The band needed to be more but better than before
These all look like great tech items. I really love the cross platform thing that Microsoft's done with Windows 10.
looks like ive got a bit of reading to do,,this looks complicated to me
What a great trip! I would have nerded out a little bit, too. I will have to give my husband the news about the Xbox One playing Xbox360 games. And that Microsoft Band 2 is going to my wishlist to Santa!
I think now days tech is a part of everyday life for most families. We're Apple/Mac at our house but, wow, Microsoft is making me rethink it all.
These look like great products! I've heard a lot about the Microsoft Surface. I'll have to check it out soon!
Your information about the XBox caught my eye. We bought an XBox360 for the kids last year, but I wondered what we would do with the games when the kids want an XBox One. It will be great that the games will still work!
