Have you ever wondered what exactly is
going on in someone's head? Now we kind of have an idea thanks to the
wonderful new Disney/Pixar movie Inside Out. I recently had the
chance to see the next in line of Pixar home runs and it didn't
disappoint.
From an adventurous balloon ride above
the clouds to a monster-filled metropolis, Academy Award®-winning director Pete
Docter (“Monsters, Inc.,” “Up”) has taken audiences to unique and imaginative
places. In Disney Pixar’s original movie “ Inside Out,” he will take us to the
most extraordinary location of all—inside the mind. Growing up can be a bumpy road, and it's no
exception for Riley, who is uprooted from her Midwest life when her father
starts a new job in San Francisco.
Like all of us, Riley is guided by her emotions – Joy (Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith). The emotions live in Headquarters, the control center inside Riley’s mind, where they help advise her through everyday life. As Riley and her emotions struggle to adjust to a new life in San Francisco, turmoil ensues in Headquarters.

Being kid can be rough and that's the
case for Riley (Kaitlyn Dias) a hockey loving Minnesota girl who is
uprooted from her life and transplanted to San Francisco because of
her fathers (Kyle MacLachlan) new job. Along the bumps in the road of
life we get to meet Riley's emotions: Joy (Amy Poehler), Anger
(Lewis Black), Sadness (Phyllis Smith), Fear (Bill Hader), and
Disgust (Mindy Kaling.) With Riley struggling to cope with her roller
coaster of emotions we get to see how those voices help her cope with
life and a whole slew of new situations in their headquarters Riley's
head.
Joy is Riley's main emotion and with this big move she struggles to keep Riley happy, and all of her emotions struggle to keep her balanced. I'm not a spoiler person so I'll leave out a lot of the other little details because I hate when a movie is ruined. I will say this is a fantastic movie, wonderfully animated and voiced and is just another Pixar home run.
What Babe Ruth was to baseball, Pixar is to animation. Character development, story lines, wonder voice actor's and just stunning visuals make this movie another must see. The story is a little deeper than most kids movies so it's the perfect family movie, it's not too childish for adult's but not too grown up for kids.
I'm amazed at how Pixar can manage to keep raising the bar. You'd figure that eventually they'd run out of room for how high that bar can go....but it keeps going up and up. I loved this movie because it brought me back to when I was little girl and we moved (it was across the city not the country but still I'd be leaving my friends and house that I grew up in behind.)
Inside Out brought all those emotions out of me and made me connect with Riley on a much deeper level. I thought Toy Story 3 had my emotions all stirred up but Inside Out hit me deeper and I think it will hit a lot of you deeper. This is a wonderful movie that I can't recommend enough. Go see it, you'll enjoy it, just bring a few tissues. Be sure to check out my views at the Inside Out Premiere, it was a fun as this movie is!

We have been waiting for this movie to come out and it looks so cute! My plan is to take the kids to see it this weekend!
That loos like such an adorable film! I think my kids would love it a lot!
I'm totally excited to see this with my nieces and nephews. I love the idea of starting the conversation to helping them understand their emotions and how to control them, etc.
I want to see Amy Poehler in this film, well I guess hear her as Joy. They say she is great.
