My Sunday at the Disney Media Mom's Conference started (not so) bright and early (6 a.m.)
because I signed up to do the GoGo Fun Run, Sponsored by GoGo squeeze.
My husband always talks about the tranquility of the parks in the early
morning hours, he knows this because of the past several years of
attending Star Wars weekend. He’ll typically get up at 2:30 a.m.
and head over to the Studio’s to get in whatever line he needs to get
in. It’s a beautiful sight to see what is normally a bustling and busy
theme park sitting quietly in the still of the night.
I’m not a runner
by any stretch but I wanted to take this opportunity to get to see
something I would not normally get to experience. It was called a run
but you didn’t necessarily have to, I walked while others ran and it was
all good. We made our way around Epcot and seeing Epcot in the dawn was
stunning. It’s a beautiful park to begin with but with the sky behind
it lighting it up in a really cool orangey purple it really looked
wonderful.
We
ended our run at the Butterflies on the Go butterfly garden, and I can’t
help but thinking about my husband again…..he’s petrified of butterflies. (Luckily I am not :)
This is an exhibit my daughter and I always
make our way into when we’re down here and the Flower and Garden
Festival are going on. We leave the big chicken outside where he’s safe
from the threat of the butterflies!
From Epcot we made our way back to the hotel to get ready for our
goodbye breakfast. Breakfast sponsored by Disney Consumer
Products—Imagicademy was wonderful. I can’t complain about any of the
food we were fed at the conference, it was all wonderful and different
and we never left anywhere hungry. I’ve never had as much food in a cone
that wasn’t ice cream as I did over these past few days! Food in a cone
is a wonderful idea.
During
breakfast up on the big screen we were treated by pictures we had taken
and tweeted over the past couple of days. And I was happy and proud to
see my family with Hiro and Baymax up on the screen, I was delighted to
see several of my pictures up on the screen, it really made my Mother’s
Day even more special. After breakfast we were given quite a delightful
surprise a performance by Orlando’s own VoicePlay!

They appeared on the 4th season of The Voice and we’re absolutely fantastic. They instantly grabbed my daughter’s attention when the mentioned they just released a series of a cappella video game covers. My little gamer and savvy internet user quickly looked them up and was bopping her head up and down to the music. This was really a special surprise, these guys are wonderfully talented singers and performers and they were really funny as well. You could feel a sense of brotherly love between them it really came through with their performance.
And
finally we were treated by a skit that hit a little close to home with
us and that was given by the Disney's Imagicademy. It involved a mother and
daughter and the daughter was a budding artist and it just followed her
along her path as a budding artist to an artist. It hit me because
that’s what I’m living right now. My daughter loves to draw and has been
drawing ever since she could hold a pencil. We’ve always encouraged her
to draw and help her talent grow and who knows maybe one day she’ll be
drawing feature length animations for Disney or Pixar.
I’m excited to
see what the future holds for my little girl and this skit really made
this Mother’s Day a little more special. After breakfast we gave our
goodbye’s to each other and it got a little weepy but we all had fun and
will all keep in touch and hopefully I’m lucky enough to see them all
again if I’m lucky enough to be invited back. We had a wonderful time
and experienced things we never thought we’d get to do and I’m glad we
had the opportunity to do it.
