Central Park
While this will be on the itinerary of most visitors to New York, Central Park is the perfect place for the family to escape the busy and bustling city. You might not see every inch of its 843 acres, but kids are bound to locate one of the park’s numerous playgrounds. But if this wasn’t entertainment enough, there is the Central Park Zoo, Belvedere Castle and Wollman Skating Rink to take advantage of too. What’s more, the public swimming pool at the north end of the park is ideal for cooling off in the summer.
The Museum of Arts and Design
Your kids might not be too keen on the idea of learning when they’re not at school, but the Museum of Arts and Design is both entertaining and informative.
In addition to watching the creative process and asking artists questions, kids are sometimes given the opportunity to help out as well. At the same time, adults can explore a range of eye-opening exhibitions and collections, which celebrate unique ways of thinking and incredible imagination. And with a Museum of Arts and Design voucher, it can be an affordable day out for everyone too.
FAO Schwarz
Quite possibly the most famous and fun toy store in the world, FAO Schwarz is a rather remarkable sight for a child’s eyes. However, even mature and responsible parents will want to grab the nearest game or gadget and stay there for the rest of the day. Although a visit to FAO Schwarz could result in a rather damaged wallet or purse, there is nothing wrong with telling your kids that it’s actually a toy museum and only a select few items are for sale.
New York Aquarium
A superb place to come on a rainy day, the New York Aquarium is home to over 10,000 species of marine life. During the thoroughly amusing demonstrations, your entire family will be amazed by just how intelligent sea lions, seals and walruses are. To boot, the New York Aquarium is located right on the boardwalk of Coney Island, where even more fun can be had. So, if you’re planning a visit to New York anytime soon, you simply cannot afford to miss out on these family-friendly attractions, especially as your kids are sure to love each and every one of them.
