Disney Planes Fire & Rescue who is your little everyday hero? #FireandRescue #spon

The word hero gets thrown around a lot and is kind of a hazy subject. What makes a hero? What is required to be one? Does is take an act of bravery or just looking a fear head on and conquering it? There are so many ways to be a hero the kind of heroes that go unnoticed and just do things because they need to be done, those are everyday heroes and my daughter is one of them.

When my daughter switched schools she became a selective mute and would only talk to a handful of people and that made life in school miserable for all of us. Her crippling fear of talking to anyone made asking and answering questions impossible, it also made getting through TSA fun.
We were coming home from Disney World when a TSA agent asked my daughter how old she is, when she turned and looked at my husband with a look of panic on her face the look on his face, in turn, was priceless! In his head he's thinking oh great they're going to arrest me for kidnapping my own child! After a brief explanation we were let through security and on our way. After working with a Doctor for several months we're happy to say our little girl is able to talk to people again and in fact she's doing so well that she's now wanting to help those who are less fortunate than she is.

When August was ending and September was creeping up on us that meant school was right around the corner and my daughter knowing a few of her classmates were less fortunate wanted to help them and others by going on a collecting drive for school supplies, from going to not talking to anyone to being able to now go out and help collect school supplies is an amazing turn around. She likes to refer to herself as Dusty from the Planes franchise. Dusty is a crop duster with a fear of heights but the want to be much more than he is. Dusty not only got over his fear he got to achieve his dream by competing with planes built more for speed than he could ever imagine. That didn't deter him and he went on to prove to himself he was much more than just a simple crop duster.

And in Planes: Fire and Rescue available on DVD and Blu-Ray on Tuesday, November 4^th., Dusty not being able to race anymore decided he wanted to learn how to help fight fires. With the help of Maru and the training of Blade Ranger, Dusty did just that. Even though he hit a few snags along the way because of his determination he ultimately succeeded. I love the way Dusty overcomes his fears and issues and just rises above those issues to do what he wants even though the odds are stacked against him. 

Doing something to help others just because that's the right thing to do makes you a hero in my book. This didn't take coaxing or bribing, she did this because she wanted to help those who are less fortunate. My daughter, just like Dusty, has overcome so much that she makes me proud and is my everyday hero everyday.
