I remember as a kid the only time I would have the pleasure of eating a Peep was during Easter, now Peeps are a yearlong treat (they’re still best eaten slightly stale) and I’m glad they are. Yellow chicks were our only option growing up and now they’re so many more shapes (pumpkins, ghosts, gingerbread men etc.) and flavors (vanilla, bubble gum, chocolate mousse etc.) and they even dip Peeps in chocolate! And now they’re miniaturized! Peeps Minis () are not just cute and adorable but like their bigger siblings delicious!

  I must admit when we first opened the box and saw the sour watermelon flavor we were taken back a little, my daughter made a face and said I'm not sure about that... When we tasted it we changed our tune! It's a bold move to make a sour flavored Peep, we've become used to Peeps being sweet but this is a great move and it works well because, in my opinion, because they went with watermelon and watermelon and sour work really well together. Along with sour watermelon are strawberry and chocolate flavors and they're just as good as the sour watermelon and a nice change of pace from their sour counterpart.

  I'm already trying to come up with unique ways to use the mini's for desserts, between the cool flavors and their small stature it should be fun concocting desserts for the summer. And I can't wait to see everyone's reaction when tasking the sour watermelon for the first time! Peeps have made the transition from an Easter treat to a treat you can eat on a random Tuesday in June and that's a good thing because those little guys are good things....especially when slightly stale!
