Holiday Gift Guide: Disney's The Lone Ranger on dvd and Blu-Ray!

Are you looking for a great stocking stuffer idea for the movie fan on your holiday gift list this year? Coming to dvd on 12/17/13 just in time for the holidays is Disney’s The Lone Ranger!

Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer star in THE LONE RANGER, from Jerry Bruckheimer Films and Director Gore Verbinski. It's a wild ride of high-velocity action, explosions and gunfights that brings the famed masked legend to life through brand-new eyes. The Lone Ranger (Hammer), the last of his kind, teams with Tonto (Depp), a dark and mysterious vigilante, to seek vengeance after justice has failed them. It's a runaway train of epic surprises, as these two unlikely heroes must learn to work together before the ultimate showdown between good and evil explodes.

This past June we had the chance to head out west and go to Disneyland, while we were out there Disney held the world premiere of the Lone Ranger at the California Adventure. We were in the park the night of the premiere and got to witness the red carpet and the crowds and cameras that go along with a huge premiere.

A few days later we were touring California Adventure and my wife noticed a sign that annual passholder's were invited to a special screening of the Lone Ranger. Lucky me I just so happen to have a premiere annual pass! I'm so proud of my little pass.....I love having an AP and now I get a sweet perk to boot!

I lined up and got a great seat in the middle of the Muppet's Theater and was fixated on the movie for the next couple of hours. I have to admit I'm a Lone Ranger fan from when I was a kid, my first cap gun set was a Lone Ranger set complete with white hat and mask, and I know somewhere in my parent's house is a picture of me dressed up as the Lone Ranger. So getting a chance to see the movie before it was released in a theme park and not a typical movie theater was way beyond cool and I'm glad I was there at the right time.

The movie in our opinion was great, it's not nearly as bad as was mad out and for the life of me I don't know why it didn't do better in the box office. If you didn't (and there is a good chance you didn't) get to see it in theaters it is now available of Blu Ray.
The story in a nutshell is of a young idealistic lawyer John Reid (Armie Hammer) joins with his brother Dan (a Ranger) and his crew to go after Butch Cavendish (William Fichtner.) Butch is a bad dude and long story short John Reid is the only survivor of an ambush, he's left for dead and is rescued by an eccentric Native American named Tonto (Johnny Depp.) The rest of the movie is the two of them learning to get along and work as a team to get back at Cavendish because both men had their own run in's with him.

The movie is good, don't listen to all the negative press and see it for yourself, you'll get wrapped up in the action and comedy and you'll be wondering why it wasn't more successful. Armie Hammer was great as the by the book lawman who believed in justice and Johnny Depp was Johnny Depp and that is just pure awesomeness.

Everything he does is brilliant and his work alone is worth the price of the DVD. The Blu Ray looks spectacular and extra's and bloopers you'll find yourself lost in the old west in a matter of minutes and you won't be sorry you did!

So if you are looking for a great gift idea, why not pick up a copy of this great film, I am sure you will love it, and so will the special someone on your holiday gift list.
