I was very fortunate to be able to try an assortment of
Luigi’s Italian Ice flavors, including the Limited Time Only Cotton Candy &
Sour Apple, Cherry, Mango, Blue Raspberry & Watermelon, and Strawberry
& Lemon.
LUIGI’S Real Italian Ice may not date back to ancient times;
however, we have got a pretty cool history going. Although we only date back to 1989, LUIGI’S
Real Italian Ice is now the world’s #1 Italian Ice Many debate the folklores
around the creation of Italian Ice.
Western historians believe the refreshing treat was discovered
accidentally under the Roman Emperor Nero’s rule. It was when Nero’s servant was up in the
hills, chilling the emperor’s wine, that mountain snow was mixed with the
drink. The quick-freezing effect caused
a liquid ice consistency. Others believe
the Chinese gave Marco Polo the treat.
Marco Polo enjoyed it so much that he took the idea with him when
returning to Europe, thus becoming “Italian Ice”. Although it is not clear exactly who to
credit, one thing is clear, Italian Ice has come a long way.
Growing up in Philadelphia something you eat from an early age is water ice or Italian ice, it's part of the fabric of our city like cheese steaks and soft pretzel's. I remember when I was a kid and I would go to the corner store for my mother one of the snacks I'd like to get for myself was a container of Luigi's Real Italian Ice. LUIGI'S® Real Italian Ice is naturally flavored with real fruit juice and is packed with a refreshing taste. This delicious and nutritious treat is loved by kids and adults alike.
Luigi's has been around since 1989 and have been a part of my life ever since, I grew up eating them, my husband grew up eating them and now my daughter is enjoying Luigi's as well. The only difference is when we were growing up our flavors were limited, now?
Well besides the staples of lemon and cherry we now have mango, blue raspberry, watermelon, orange, and my daughter's personal favorite cotton candy & sour apple. New flavors are great but if they don't taste good what good are they? I can honestly say that Luigi's taste great, eating one of them instantly sends me back to when I was 11. It's like a little frozen time machine.
I love being able to share the things I loved as a kid with my daughter and when she comes home from school or from playing outside and she wants a snack to cool off with she just goes to the freezer and grabs a Luigi's Italian Ice....the only problem is deciding what flavor she wants!
Choose between a sweet or sour treat, either way you cannot
go wrong with Luigi’s the water ice treats are all delicious and they are Fat
free, Gluten Free, Naturally flavored with real fruit juice and Most flavors
are 100 calories. Can’t beat that, so if you are looking for a tasty cool
summer treat make sure to pick up a box or two of Luigi’s Italian ice, and be
sure to pick up the limited edition flavors Cotton Candy & Sour Apple, they
will not be around forever, so enjoy them now.
Now on the Luigi’s site you can vote for their next water
ice flavor, hmmm what would you choose from:
Which flavor would
be the best addition to the LUIGI'S Real Italian Ice family?
Cookies & Cream
|
S’mores
|
Mint Chocolate Chip
|
Peach
|
Cappuccino
|
I voted for Cappuccino, I think that would make a great
summer treat! What would you like to see as a flavor next? What sounds yummy to
you?

Susan, these look good. I have not tried them before, but I'd like to. Your photos make me want them now!
I tried this with their very first flavor, but I had NO idea there were all these new additions. I'm SO on it!
Ok - these look and sound amazing! I would love to try these out with my family! Thanks for sharing!
I say Cookies & Cream! Wow these look good! I'm going to look for them next time I'm at the store.
I haven't had Italian ice in a long time and it was at a baseball park. We loved it, but I think we spent a good $10 on one cup. I am putting this on my list, cant wait.
I love this stuff!!! Going to have to hunt down these new flavors, though... didn't realize how many there are now!!!
What? What? When did they come out with Mint Chocolate Chip? I can't think about anything else but the new Mint Chocolate Chip flavor that I want to try! :)
I love this stuff, especially on a hot day.
I vote for Mint chocolate chip! That's ALWAYS my favorite ice cream flavor. Peach might be the best fit for them, though.
Haha, I think the expression of bliss on her face says it all!
My boy will LOVE these. Thank you so much for sharing
My boy will LOVE these!! Thank you so much for sharing.
I had no idea they had the new flavors. My kids will be all over this!
Mint Chocolate Chip for me too!! Think we need a stash of these at home. The Texas heat is HORRID!
I'm thinking peach would be delicious! I've never tried Luigi's, but your pictures definitely make it look delicious. Now, if only the weather would warm up enough to justify any sort of frozen treat :)
oh i love Luigis- I had no idea they had that many flavors though?? WOW!!
Your daughter seems to be 10000% enjoying her blog work too :)
