I love the idea of a road trip, getting out on the open road
and spending time with my family just great quality time. When I was young the biggest road trips I ever
went on were trips to the Jersey Shore with my parents during summer vacation, we
did not go on many trips. But when I has my own family I knew I wanted to have
more road trips some bonding time with my family. Last holiday season we had a
nice road trip from Philadelphia to Florida. Well yes we were traveling to
Disney World. I have always wanted to drive there, I have never been a big fan
of traveling by airplane. The airport, the craziness… I am not a fan. We
started out easy enough at 3am we started on out family trek. I made sure we
had plenty of travel essentials for the long drive including,
Snacks – you never know when you or anyone else in the
family are going to get hungry, and sometimes you just cannot stop and a granola
bar goes a long way! So remember, to pack easy to eat snacks. Nacho chips are
not a good idea, I packed those as well and the orange cheese dust was all over
the car (well especially in my daughters area)
Water, you always need something to wash down the snacks
Wet wipes, even if you do not have very young children, wet
wipes are still a must when traveling, a quick way to wash up or wipe down.
Reading material, cds, and movies we have a portable dvd
player and we would have not made the trip if we did not bring this. My
daughter was very entertained watching this, and it really passed the time.
A good GPS, getting lost is no fun, and preventing getting
lost is a great thing!
So the trip took 18 hours to drive straight through.. It was
tough at times and fun too.. We saw some very interesting things while driving
that early on the road, we got to see one of those tree truckjs that you see on
tv, I have never seen one in real life and they are huge! We also say a chicken
truck, a truck full of chickens, it was wild and there were feathers flying
everywhere! It was something to remember that is for sure! So we made it to
florida, and we had a wonderful trip. It was a memorable experience that I
would love to do again.
What do you bring when you take holiday road trips?
