The BPA-free Kiddy Platter is version 2.0 of the
award-winning placemat/craftmat created by Smarty Parents, formerly
named the Piggy Platter.
With today’s high-tech gadgets and hurried lifestyles, Smarty Parents’ mission is to make mealtime matter and craft time count by bringing back the tradition of sharing a family meal together and encouraging tactile play for children. Smarty Parents believes young children have a great capacity for learning, especially when presented in a fun and creative manner.
As a family we got into the bad habit of watching TV while
eating dinner, I want us to sit at our kitchen table and have a “normal” family
dinner that is easier said than done. It’s easy to convince my husband but it’s
not so easy to convince my daughter who loves watching TV while eating. I
needed a hook, a way for me to get her to want to sit in the kitchen and eat at
the table and to also keep things neat and tidy. I’m amazed that she gets any
food in her mouth; you know exactly where she was sitting because she leaves a
mess behind. I have my solution!
The Kiddy Platter
is my solution and it’s working like a charm.
We’ve been bribing our daughter with the help of the mat, she seems to be taking after me with handwriting, it looks like she writes with the pen in her nose instead of her hand and her teachers are making notes about that on her tests. We need to correct this and that’s where the genius of the Kiddy Platter comes in. Not only does it keep messes in one place instead of all over your kitchen table and floor but it has a built in kid occupier…they can write on it with dry erase markers! Every night before we eat she sits there with her markers and goes over the letters several times, that’s the beauty of dry erase markers you can practice over and over by simply erasing what you’ve already done. We’ve noticed in the time she’s been practicing on the Kiddy Platter her handwriting is improving to the point where we can read what she writes without trying to guess what she wanted to write.

And no longer am I picking up food from the floor or the
chair the Platter’s main objective it to keep messes to a minimum and it does
that with ease. The Kiddy Platter is a rectangular mat that is raised on all 4
sides, but it’s not so raised that it would impede your child from eating, it’s
just high enough to trap the mess and keep it contained. Don’t think of this as
a mat for little kids, this is a grow with them mat, your child can use this
mat all through grade school because of it being an erasable mat you can put
whatever you want underneath of it, so it evolves with your child. It’s a multipurpose
platter and we’ve seen its benefits and wish we had it sooner!
