Our Take:
The Great Mouse Detective was originally released in
theaters in 1986, and now it is being released on Blu-Ray. I have to admit I
have never seen the movie prior to this review. Gasp! I know me, of all people
right? I have seen just about every Disney movie short, TV show you name it,
but for some reason I have never seen The Great Mouse Detective until now.
Since this was a big premiere for my family (we all have
never seen the movie) so we had a nice family movie night. We popped popcorn
and ordered a pizza (hey you have to have some junk food sometimes right, it
was a nice treat) and we settled in for a family Disney movie that was all new
to us. I have to say this was a very cute movie. The little mouse had to solve
mysteries, like Sherlock Holmes, they have to outwit evil to save the entire
mousedom. Will they do it?? Can Basil save the day? Well I don’t want to run
the movie for you, you will have to get it to find out yourself. I also loved Vincent Price as the professor,
his voice just fits the role so well.
I loved the songs in the movie, it was just a great movie a
real Disney classic. I can’t believe we have never had the chance to enjoy this
movie. Now it will be a permanent part of our Disney library that we will watch
again and again.
So if you are looking for a great family movie I would
highly recommend The Great Mouse
Detective, my family loved it and I am sure your family will love it too.
