Moxie Girlz Magic Swim Mermaids – Review (And a Giveaway)

 

My daughter is a big fan of dolls, they are all her little friends, well sure she has “real” friends but she loves her dolls. My little girl is growing up, but she is still into her dolls (I don’t want her to grow up too quickly) and I love to play with her and her dolls. Moxie Girls believe that every girl has the strength and anything is possible if you stay true to yourself. I love that positive message the toys give. 

We recently had the chance to test out a new doll from MGA Entertainment, a Moxie Girlz Magic Swim Mermaid named Kellan.  My daughter is a real girly girl and she just loves pink and purple, so needless to say she just loved the red hair, and loves that she is a mermaid. One of her favorite Disney characters is a mermaid, so she has always loved mermaids.

This doll can “swim”! After you add batteries the doll automatically swims when it hits water, no on and off switch needed.  Wow, I would have loved a doll like this when I was little, remember the swimming dolls of the past, that didn’t really swim, in the tiny print on the commercials they would mention “doll does not swim alone” and if you did not see this and bought the doll, you would go home and play with it and be disappointed. This happened to me as a little girl. But there is no more disappointment, this doll is all it seems to be.  The doll is well made, and built to last.  Of course my daughter was being camera shy and she did not let me take a picture of her and her doll.. Well here is Kellan as soon as she arrived.

My daughter  had a blast playing with her cousin in my parents pool, my daughter and her cousin, took turns with the doll and she swam, and they pretended that they had a swim meet, and were playing against Kellan, they had such a fun time.

This doll is recommended for ages 6-15, and I think those ages are good, but I think 3-4-5 year olds would also love this doll. My daughter age 7 and her cousin age 8 loved this doll. I would recommend this  doll for all little girls who love pretty dolls that are different. Kellan is a beautiful doll, that you can brush and style her hair, but your daughter might miss, being able to dress up the doll. But the fun swimming action makes up for the lack of legs.  My daughter still dressed up the top of the doll, when she was not playing with her in the pool, or tub. She just used larger longer doll clothes that she clipped around the doll. I think I see a clothing designer in the making!
