Football fun with the family NCAA Football #NCAAfootball13 #CBias A chance to win!!

Out with the old and in with the new. Last week I wrote about how my family loves playing NCAA Football 12  from EA Sports we had a year’s worth of fun playing that game but like all good sports games the next best one is a year away…unless we’re talking about hockey games because every time my husband plays hockey he compares them all the NHL 95 for Sega and how no hockey game has come close to that games sheer awesomeness. Moving along…..we went to Walmart tonight to pick up some provisions and in our little haul of goodies was NCAA13. We just normally like to roam around Walmart grabbing things we need, we really don’t have a set list of anything we just kind of wing it and tonight was no different.

Our local Walmart had just recently been converted into a Super Walmart so it’s nearly twice the size it used to be and the whole store was spruced up, it looks great in there the aisles are wide and the selections are plentiful now. We needed to pick up some food for dinner and my husband being the over grown kid that he is…was antsy because he wanted to get the game and to look at the Star Wars figures. He’s 36 going on 9.

After picking up our food and snacks we headed over to the video game section and it’s always fun to watch his eyes light up when he sees all the games available to buy. Walmart pretty much has what you’re looking for game wise, the selection of games for all the systems is top notch and with as many games as my husband buys I should know. We noticed they had put out signs for NCAA 13 and you would have to be blind to not notice them, the signage looked good it featured Barry Sanders and Robert Griffin III on them as they’re also featured on the box.

I had to be told who they were exactly, I’m learning, I’m not John Madden yet although I do have a fear of flying like he does! I learned that both men were Heisman trophy winners and that one of the options on this year’s version of NCAA football was that you could put any Heisman winner on any team. Like Matt Leinart from USC could now play for Notre Dame and if that happened I think my husband’s head would explode. Being the ND fan he is he kinda sorta in a roundabout way hates USC (except for George Lucas, he’s cool with the maker going to USC,) but if he wanted to see Barry Sanders who won the Heisman while playing for Oklahoma State play for Temple (go Owls) he could do that. It’s neat to tweak history and play Quantum Leap style football, I love what ifs and this is a great what if.
The game itself looked really good and the sound was really good, when my husband fired up the exhibition game and the Irish took the field the fight song sounded like the band was in our living room. He had a grin on his face and said sounds like their shaking down the thunder (that’s a line in the ND fight song I learned that years ago and I have no idea how I retained it!) After messing around with the exhibition game he moved on to his favorite part of sports games and created himself and in what I thought was a great touch is you play your senior year of high school and try to impress schools with your ability. You get to choose 3 at the beginning my husband chose ND, UCF (so his avatar could go to WDW whenever he wanted) and Temple because that’s where we went to school. As of now he’s currently still playing through his senior season but the way it looks it looks like he’ll be taking his “talents” to South Bend.
We all took turns playing and while I use the normal button configuration to play we turn the one button mode on for our daughter so she can just mash a button and have a good time, the one thing with sports games now is that all the buttons are in play and for a 7 years old it’s tough, she’s an avid games and a really good one but it’s a lot to take in and figure out so when she wants to play with daddy all he has to do is turn one button mode on and they can have all sorts of fun together, it makes it so much simpler to deal with and she doesn’t get frustrated because she’s able to play well right from the start.
As I’ve learned from years of “listening” to my husband EA Sports makes the best sports games in the world and they keep pushing to bar making their games more interesting and deeper each and every year. This year’s NCAA Football is no different, it’s nice to see a company not resting on its laurels and just pumping out the same thing with a new year on it. They keep their video games fresh and relevant and if you like football especially college football well then NCAA 13 is the game for you!
