I am always looking for ways to be more green. I think it is so important, and I want to teach my daughter that green is the way to go. We have recently tried to make our clothes greener too. And I have found a great site that will help my entire family do just that. A Green Wardrobe. Here is a little more information about A Green Wardrobe from the website:
Inspired by the fashionable direction green and ethical designers have been taking, we kicked off A Green Wardrobe in the fall of 2007 while at the Ethical Fashion Show in Paris.
We pride ourselves in carrying both international and national designers as we feel it sends a message of global green and offers a broad range of styles and approaches. We also happen to be the first to introduce several of these designers to the U.S.
Each unique item on our site is created from organic, sustainable, or recycled and repurposed materials, manufactured using fair labor and fair trade and proceeds back to the community by the designer are common.
The clothing industry has an enormous impact on the environment and its inhabitants and we at A Green Wardrobe feel that even a little green can go a long way. We aim to assist the furtherance of a fresh fashion world where form and function combine with innovative designs meant to support a green and ethical planet.
There are so many great items on the site, here are a few of my favorites:
Feral Childe - Cyano Tee
Les Fees De Bengale - Angeleique (r) (and this dress is on sale for a great price!)
VBN - Perfect Plaid Shirt (this would look great on my husband!)
Sustainable Kids - Flore Tunic
I was very fortunate to be able to review a wonderful dress:
Zen Essentials - Champagne & Novocaine
Essential cocktail dress for the holidays! You will feel like a present in this sexy sophisticated number with relaxed boatneck, scalloped front pockets and clever ruffle trim.
My Review:
I have been trying to get greener and greener. I recycle and reuse as much as I can. I buy organic whenever possible. And now I am trying to get my clothes to be a little greener too.
Each item A Green Wardrobe sells is made from sustainable, recycled or organic materials. I was very fortunate to be able to review a great dress, Zen Essentials - Champagne & Novocaine.
This dress, is a classic black dress, it is stylish and so very soft. I can’t explain how velvety soft it feels. It is amazing.
I was able to wear the dress at work, and when paired with a sweater it was fine with the dress code (they are a bit strict no sleeveless tops allowed) and it is a bit cold at work any way they run at A/C all year long (yes you read that right, in the winter the a/c is running why I don’t know?) so you need a sweater. When I wore this at work, I got quite a few complements on it. And I felt great wearing it all day, the dress is comfortable and flows nicely.
I also wore the dress for a Valentine’s day dinner with my husband (my husband and I do not see each other in the morning sometimes, because of our different schedules) so when I put on the dress and came down to show my husband. He was just about speechless, and speechless is good. He loved the dress, and he loved how the dress fit my curves. I love that my hubby loves me for me, he is a wonderful guy.
This would be a wonderful dress to travel with. It folds up to pretty much nothing, and it doesn’t wrinkle that much so I am sure that after taking it out of the luggage after traveling the dress will just have to be hung up and then It will be ready to wear.
The Sustainable Kids http://agreenwardrobe.com/store/kids/girls/flore-tunic.html - Flore Tunic would be great for my daughter, she really loves dresses, and she just can’t wear dresses all the time. Dresses are hard to fit in every day wear especially with school. And this tunic, she could have a dress of sorts and still wear pants. So we both win!
With Earth Day right around the corner, why not be kind to mother earth, and be kind to yourself by picking up some great fashion items at A Green Wardrobe.
