My Review:

There is meat…..then there is MEAT. The meat you get from Petit Jean Meats is some of the best meats we’ve ever had. Period, bar-none, end of story. We received a gift box of meat (who wouldn’t love a big box of meat?!) and in that box was a selection of some of the finest meats you can find.
Included in our box was:

Dallas Cowboys EZ Carve Smoked Sliced Ham (16 oz.), Dallas Cowboys Hickory Smoked Bacon (24
oz.), Dallas Cowboys Hickory Smoked Peppered Bacon (22 oz.), Smoked Sausage with Bacon
& Cheese (14 oz.), Deer Summer Sausage with Jalapeno & Cheese (16 oz.) Did I mention it was
a Cowboys fan gift pack? Yeah that didn’t go over too well with my husband who is an Eagles
fan….he soon forgot about the football rivalry when he tasted the bacon I cooked up on
Sunday morning!

I cooked up both types of bacon, the smell of the bacon in our house woke up my husband and
had him standing in the kitchen plate in hand waiting for his share. I cooked up several slices
and before I knew it we had none left, between my husband and daughter they wiped out close
to a half pound of bacon! The bacon cooked up nice and crispy, we like it a little cripsy and the
peppered bacon stole the show, the pepper flavor added another layer of depth to the bacon
and just made the bacon shine.

The meat extravaganza continued later in the day when I cooked up the smoked sausage with
bacon and cheese for dinner. Again a big hit, I fried up some jalapenos to go along with the
sausage. If it was possible I think my husband would eat sausage for every meal, and his love
of sausage has seem to rub off on my my daughter she had no problems putting a link away
herself, smacking her lips the whole time saying this is good!

I plan on making the ham for Thanksgiving, it’ll be the first time I make a ham and I’m looking
forward to it, and I know it will be a hit at dinner and will probably steal the show. The deer
summer sausage is something that is a little out of our comfort zone, I know for some deer is
something you eat frequently but for people who were born and raised as city slickers deer
is something we’re not used to eating. But what’s the point of going through life if you’re not
willing to try different things? You never know what you might wind up liking and we were
surprised at how much we enjoyed the deer sausage! It had a different taste than beef but it
wasn’t a gamey as we were anticipating it was to us just another form of delicious meat.

This gift box was a rousing hit with my family, and I know it will be with yours! If you’re looking
