Holiday Gift Guide: Cangles - Review (And a Giveaway)

Do you love recycled jewelry like I do? I came across a neat company, Cangles with a line of eco-friendly jewelry. Cangles, what are Cangles? Well here is a little more information about the company from the website:

In August 2009, our family was discussing the heartbreaking drive through the neighborhoods where our family had lived for three generations. What were once thriving neighborhoods are today home to poverty and dozens of boarded-up businesses, littered with refuse.

     During this conversation the idea of recycling cans thrown away due to carelessness was born. We wanted to use them to make an environmental statement as well as a useful product, and we decided to make environmentally responsible eco-friendly bangles. This idea resonated so strongly among the four of us that we immediately created a plan aimed at turning recycled aluminum cans into something fashionable that could also promote environmental responsibility.

In doing this we could make our personal contribution to reducing waste in our oceans and landfills and possibly grow enough so that we could employ people from our community in need of jobs. Although none of us had a background in manufacturing jewelry, we were determined to make our idea work. We decided on the name Cangles, which is a combination of cans and bangles.

 They have a great assortment of brands/flavors. So you can purchase the jewelry because it is beautiful or because you love the product it represents.  There are so many great items on the site here are a few of my favorites:

My Review: 

I love eco-friendly jewelry. It is nice to be kind to the earth and protect the environment.  I love the look of recycled jewelry. I especially love when things are made out of things I love. I know that is a confusing sentence right… hmmm how to explain it.. I love things made out of popular food items (totes, purses) I never knew someone who made jewelry? Well Cangles makes jewelry from cans!

 I was lucky enough to be able to review a pair of earrings and a small hair clip.

Earrings - Arizona Tea Hearts

The earrings were made from Arizona Tea cans, look closely see the flowers… Remember them from the Arizona Tea cans?  And the clip I picked the pretty blue made from a Fresca can. The clip is a pretty flower, and my daughter has claimed it. She could not wait to wear the “soda clip” as she called it.  It is just amazing what can be done with cans that would have just been thrown in the trash. They can be turned into beautiful jewelry that will be worn for years to come.

Are they sharp? I was afraid that the edges may be jagged and I would cut myself… But no they are made well and are not jagged at all.

I received so many complements on my earrings, they are conversation starters that is for sure.
