My Review:
Do you ever get bored with grape jelly/jam well my daughter sure does, she is a big fan of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. While I am glad she loves the sandwiches so much, it makes things easier for me as a working mom peanut butter and jelly is an easy lunch to make. But she is getting bored with the sandwiches already (and it is only September!)
I was lucky enough to be able to try Lost Loons Farms jams, they came a great time, and my daughter was excited to try them. Lost Loons Farms makes all of their jams from scratch one batch at a time, and Lost Loon Farms, family owned and operated. (I wish I could make jelly/jam like this). Each of the jams are in canned mason jars and are covered with a cute top, making them look so cute in the refrigerator. They and sold in 2 sizes, 3.75oz and 9oz, prices range from $4.25-$9.75.
For this review I choose, apricot, peach, strawberry rhubarb, apricot zucchini jams. My family was quite impressed with the jams, they were each sweet and delicious. The strawberry rhubarb was by far my daughters favorite, she loved the sweet and slight tartness it had, but she really did love all of the jams, the apricot and peach had nice chunks of fruit in it, and she loved the variety she now has for her lunch! My favorite is the apricot zucchini jam, funny thing is I hate zucchini. I know weird huh? I don't like the vegetable in soups, or a side I just do not like it, but I love zucchini bread, I feel it works better as a sweet, so I knew I would love the apricot zucchini jam and it did not disappoint, it was sweet and delicious, I enjoyed strawberry rhubarb as well, it was a great addition to my morning English muffin, what a treat.
I love to bake with jellies and jams especially for the holidays, I will have to order more for my famous Kipfuls, now if you have ever had one our family would make them a bit different than the usual style, we would add jams/jellies instead of nuts. It is a big hit for my family, and they will just love the flavors of jams that Lost Loons Farms offers, they will make the holidays that more special for us.
Czechoslovakian Kipfuls - (Kind of like a cookie)
4 heaping C flour
4 sticks softened butter (1 lb.)
4 egg yolks

1 large or 2 small yeast cakes
Your favorite jam/jellies.
Mix flour, butter and egg yolks. Dissolve yeast in 1/2 C warm milk and add. Mix by hand to dough consistency. Roll into log and cut into 12 equal parts.
Mix cream cheese, 1 C. sugar and 4 egg whites. Roll into 96 little balls.
Roll each part of dough into flat circle , add a small dollop of jelly and shape the dough over the jelly.
Bake 350 for 15 minutes. Yes the jelly may ooze out a bit, this is normal it is still delicious.
