About Gallery Direct (from the website)
Ten years ago, Gallery Direct started as a fine art publisher, which is the crucial liaison between artist and audience, responsible for finding the talent, capturing the work, recreating and releasing the work as a limited edition. We quickly noticed our artwork being sold, by third parties, for six to nine times what it should. This did not sit well with our founders, two guys with a vision: Fine Art for Everyone!
So we began to frame our images, taking our collection and message directly to you, hence the name Gallery Direct. The art world hasn't been the same since we came on to the scene. Move forward to 2010, still a privately held company, gallerydirect.com is the largest limited edition fine art publisher, print maker and artisan framer in the world. This means we do it all: we find the artists and the artwork; we market and recreate the art ourselves. There is no middleman between the artwork and your walls.
My Review:
Our walls have always been pretty barren, for some reason we never got around to putting anything on them, been in this house for 8 years and they’ve been plain. We have and take a lot of pictures, we have a lot of framed pictures but they sit in our basement waiting to get the call up to the show. I had the chance to have a photo framed and matted by Gallery Direct (http://www.gallerydirect.com/) and I took that opportunity and I looked at it as what might be the kick in the pants we need to finally fill our naked walls with something. There was so much to choose from at Gallery Direct, beautiful prints, and breathtaking framed artwork by some very talented artists. But they also have the option of uploading your own pictures...
We chose a photo my husband snapped while in Disneyland, we were leaving the park and people were lining up getting ready for Wishes so the Cast Members were ushering everyone not staying out. We were crossing Main St. and my husband paused and said I’ve gotta snap a pic or two of the castle, the way the castle was lit it was a beautiful sight. I told him it wouldn’t work, it was dark, he didn’t have a tripod or anything to lean on and he only had a handful of seconds to try and get that perfect shot. He got lucky, he held his breath and took a few pictures, most of them were slightly blurry and useless but the last one was perfect, I mean 100% perfect. It was crisp, clear and beautiful. He captured the beauty of the castle with the Partners statue in clear view and in focus in front of it. It was his Ansel Adams moment.
We uploaded the image to Gallery Direct, and chose how we wanted it printed; you have several choices from canvas, paper, aluminum, acrylic, mirror and wood. We went with paper, chose the natural mahogany frame and that was it. Very simple, very straight forward not complicated in the least. A few days later our picture had arrived, we were anxious to see how it would look enlarged to 28 x 36, it was beautiful.
The frame, the mat, the photo it all blended perfectly. My husband said he knows why they chose the name Gallery Direct, the work they do belongs in galleries. We have a museum quality piece hanging in our living room and it is affordable! We’ve looked at frame places around here and they’re all overpriced, it’s ridiculous how much some of these places want for a picture half the size of the picture we received from Gallery Direct.
Our beautiful Photo, framed and matted perfectly.
A close up of the Mahogany framing, it is thick and well crafted.
Our photo is now hanging in our dining room, it really looks good, and I can’t stop looking at it! It’s a huge hit, my father in law hung the picture for us since my husband isn’t sure which end of the hammer to use and he was even taken at the picture and he’s seriously not easily impressed, my husband was amazed to hear his father gush about the picture he was sure this was an alien inside of his father’s body, he actually asked his father is he was feeling alright.
I wouldn’t hesitate to order another print, their price and quality of work is superb. If you’re looking for your own masterpiece to be framed don’t think twice let Gallery Direct do it, you won’t be disappointed!
