Do you like to bake? Well I sure love to bake and try new things in the kitchen. I love watching baking shows on TV, and trying to make some of those great looking creations at home. I have not been that lucky in making my cake look like those on TV. I must not have the knack for designing cakes, but I sure try.

Our Take:

I was very fortunate to be able to check out a cake mix and frosting combo from Duff, the new Camouflage Cake! Duff's cake mixes are just like the ones used in professional bakeries. One package of this cake mix makes one 9"x13” cake or two double-layer 8” or 9” round cakes. Duff’s Premium Cake Mixes use low protein, low gluten flour, which makes for a lighter, fluffier cake.  

A camo cake? Sure it sounds and looks cool but how in the world do you make this? Will this be something I can actually master? I could not wait to find out.  The steps were a bit different than the usual  cake mix. Sure there were a few more steps but nothing that was hard or took that much more time. To make you simply had to mix the cake mix normally, then separate the mix into 3 bowls, then add the cool colors as directed. When the colors are mixed and ready in the separate bowls, you have to drop spoonful’s into a cake round again and again until you are out of mix and the round is full.

 

 Then simply bake and let cool then prepare the cake. I was a bit nervous, and I was not sure how this would turn out, but it smelled fantastic when this was baking. We were having a little family get together for my father’s birthday, and with my father being an avid hunter I knew the camo cake would be a great surprise for him.  My father loved the cake, and when we cut it he loved it even more! I have to say this cake turned out pretty good, and it was a big hit.   

These yummy looking (and tasting) cakes come in a variety of unique flavors, including Zebra, Tie-Dye, Confetti, Peanut Butter + Chocolate, White Mocha, and Minty-Chip Chocolate.
