Our Take:
I was very fortunate to be able to have a little family get together to have a viewing of Hop. My daughter was so excited to have a Hop party! We made special pink cupcakes for the occasion. We had some family members over and my daughter’s best friend. We were all looking forward to the movie, well everyone except my husband.
My daughter making special cupcakes for the event!
They look good don't they?
He was not looking forward to the movie, he thought a talking bunny that plays the drums and becomes friends with Cyclops, oh I’m gonna love this. But he didn’t want to disappoint our little girl so he watched the movie with us all.
After an hour and a half my husband’s original thoughts about the movie couldn’t have been more wrong. This movie was really good, really funny and I was floored about how much I was laughing at it. Hop is about E.B. (voiced by Russell Brand) the son of the Easter bunny who wanted to be more like Keith Moon than Roger Cottontail. He meets up with Fred O’Hare (James Marsden) who was an over grown kid that didn’t work, didn’t want to work and only because of an intervention from his family forced him to try and grow up. E.B. ran away from Easter Island and Fred was forced to move out due to lack of motivation.
On his way to his house sitting duties Fred happened to hit E.B. with his car and the next hour plus was spent with us seeing that E.B. and Fred while different really were the same. They both wanted something other than what their fathers had wanted for them, and realized that they were put together by fate. And ultimately they both could help each other achieve what they really wanted out of life.
But along the way they did have a few obstacles. E.Bs. dad the Easter Bunny wanted his son found and unleashed the pink berets to find him. Nothing like seeing bunnies in pink berets trained in the martial arts and armed with a blow gun! If being hunter by the pink berets wasn’t enough E.B. had the chance to drum for the Hoff himself in what might be the best cameo by a former pretend lifeguard who once talked to a car in a movie. I could go on but I don’t want to spoil anything.
The movie never dragged for me, it didn’t have any slow parts was paced very well in my opinion and was very funny. The ventriloquist part was really, really funny. With Easter soon upon us I can’t think of any other movie I’d rather watch. It’s a fun movie for the whole family to sit back and enjoy. And even guys like my husband end up loving the movie; he is just a big kid at heart.
We had a great time at the party, and the kids had fun playing with the E.B. plush, being the girly girl my daughter is, she dressed EB as a girl, she is a funny kid~ Hop Activity Sheet, Hop Sticker Sheet, Hop Drumstick pencils. I have to say the party was a hit, the guest loved the movie, and I am sure you will too.
I would recommend Hop, it would be the ultimate Easter basket stuffer that any child would love!
