About the Pig of the Month club - (from the website)
We literally went to every so-called BBQ hot spot and had our fingers deliciously smeared from digging into A LOT of different kinds of barbecue. (Trust us, we’ve tried them all!) We went through some tough ones (pun intended), but we also found some authentic, finger-lickin’ good ones—usually from mom-and-pop restaurants and other hole-in-the-wall dining places. (Told you we’ve been everywhere.)
And after scouring every town, city, state, or region, our search has finally ended.
Guess where? Right in our kitchen.
By recreating our favorite barbecues from different regions, we’ve decided to make our own perfectly smoked barbecue ribs and lip-smacking sauces—and share the goodness with you! Pig of the Month offers ribs just the way all barbecue lovers want them: perfectly seasoned, tender-on-the-inside but crispy-on-the-outside, smoky, and mouthwatering—just tear-off-the-bones good barbecue. Our smoking technique is one that was perfected over many decades. (We didn’t just stuff ourselves full with all the barbecue; we also did research.)
We were lucky enough to be able to try the:
2 Racks Miss Scarlets Carolina Red Baby Back Ribs
In the Carolinas barbecue is a party. As such, we made our ribs and sauce a party for your mouth. The sauce and ribs are a bit more tangy, in order to stand up to the apple wood smoked meat flavor. But, they have notes of sweet tomato and chili powder to balance out the tangy kick.
These are the ribs to invite your friends and family over to, put some music on, and crack a cold one (or four).
Order these and you have ordered a good time, my friend.
My Review:
BBQ ribs. Just the name alone can make your mouth water with anticipation of chowing down on some delicious ribs. I like to cook but I’ve never been much of a BBQer, so when I had the opportunity to try ribs from Pig of the Month (http://www.pigofthemonth.com) knowing how my husband and daughter both like ribs I jumped all over it.
We were sent a slab of ribs (Miss Scarlets Carolina Red Baby Back Ribs) and a bottle of sauce (Miss Scarlets sauce.) The ribs came cooked which is nice, considering we’re not grill masters in any way being able to just pop the ribs into foil and toss them into the over is really great. In 30 minutes time were picking the meat clean off of the bones of these ribs. Just to let you know how tender and fall off the bone these ribs are my daughter has several loose teeth and eating for her is a bit of a challenge right now and she had no problems getting the meat off of the bone. My husband quipped I bet I can shake the meat off of the bone! He would have tried but we managed to wipe that slab out in a matter of minutes.
These ribs aren’t just good they’re great! I love the ease, I love the flavor, I really loved the fact that in 30 minutes we were able to eat something that I’m not proficient in making. I wouldn’t hesitate to order these ribs or the other flavors you’ll find at the Pig of the Month website. The Miss Scarlet sauce was another hit; it’s got a nice tang and pairs well with the smoky flavor of the ribs. You will love these ribs; they are succulent swine, heavenly hogs, perfect pigs, ridiculous ribs. Just try them, you’ll agree!
